Calcite with Chalcopyrite Mineral Specimens
Calcite, a calcium carbonate, is a sedimentary mineral. It develops into different crystal shapes more than any other mineral; in this instance, nailhead calcite. Chalcopyrite is a copper iron sulfide that is dark or brassy yellow, often with an iridescent sheen. These two minerals joined together around Reynolds County, Missouri, in a region known as the Viburnum Trend, reportedly the largest galena deposit in the world.
