Bornite Mineral Specimens

Bornite is a copper iron sulfide. It displays an iridescent tarnish, usually a shiny purple, and is often called peacock ore. Only occasinally crystallized, bornite occurs in compact masses of a reddish-bronze color and begins tarnishing upon exposure to air. Large deposits are found in Montana and Mexico.
