Benitoite Mineral Specimens
First discovered in 1906, this barium titanium silicate comes from the Diablo Range in San Benito County, California, for which it is named. Sometimes called "heavenly stone," benitoite is an exquisite blue color. It is associated with natrolite, a hydrated sodium aluminum silicate; black neptunite, a silicate of titanium, iron, and sodium; and joaquinite, a complex silicate of sodium, calcium, titanium, and iron.
