Examples of unpolished lapidary rock slabs of Snowflake Obsidian ready to be cut en cabochon or free form and polished. Obsidian is a natural volcanic glass that forms from lava. Spherulitic obsidian often displays inclusions of a white mineral, cristobalite, a polymorph of silica, which develops "snowflake" crystal patterns. This black and white glass most probably came from the deposits found around Milford, Utah. The photographs below depict the actual rock slab you are ordering.
