Unpolished rough rock cabbing slabs of Dinosaur Bone ready to be cut en cabochon or free form and polished. Agatized dino bone occurs from permineralization, a process developing over a long period of time when minerals rich in silicon dioxide are dissolved in groundwaters that infiltrate the spaces within and between the cellular structure of an animal that was buried rapidly in sediment and began fossilizing. Large deposits of fossilized dinosaur bone from the Jurassic Period are concentrated in Colorado and Utah, and these pieces may very well have come from those areas, although their precise locale is unknown. The images depicted in the photographs below show the actual rock you will receive. Click on the picture for a link to an enlarged view of this agatized Dinosaur Bone.
