Unpolished lapidary rock slabs of Cathedral Agate ready to cut en cabochon or free-form shape, and polish. Agate describes a variety of cryptocrystalline quartz whose forms include layers of different materials, from translucent to opaque, in a wide variety of colors. Moss agate is a colorless, translucent chalcedony containing visible impurities that form dendritic shapes resembling moss. Although not banded, this translucent chalcedony with the moss-like patterns is still considered an agate. Cathedral Agate is translucent to transparent, characterized by chalcedony spires filled with colorful mosses, blue to lavendar, red, gold, and white.
